Ron
Ayres is a record-holding long distance motorcyclist, and an excellent
writer. Against the Wind chronicles the 1995 "Iron Butt
Rally", a biennial event involving eleven consecutive days of over
1,000 miles each. Ron tells his own stories, and those of over two
dozen other riders from that rally. Against the Wind has been
lauded as among the best of the best in motorcycle literature, and gives
an insight into the favorite ride of the "World's Toughest
Riders"tm. Darwin Holmstrom of
Motorcyclist magazine wrote:
"Given the topic, just about anyone could have
written an interesting book, but Ayres' storytelling skills enable him
to weave together a tale so engrossing, many people will read it from
cover to cover without putting it down. I did. I even
cancelled a 600-mile motorcycle ride to finish it."
