#1 - Is the R-A-M system strong enough to hold my…?
The R-A-M system is made of aircraft aluminum, with injection-molded 1" rubber balls. When the arm is fully tightened, it is very stable and secure. The capacity of the system is most influenced by the base used, and how it is mounted. The handlebar base is very stable, as is the V-Base with Strap. The mirror base, since it has only one attachment point, tends to allow more vibration. Please contact us for advice on a particular application.

#2 - How easy is it to remove a R-A-M device from my bike?
Some items are held in cradles (e.g. many GPSs, PDA) and can be removed leaving the mount in place. Otherwise, simply loosen the handle on the R-A-M arm and remove the arm and device. This method takes about 20 seconds.

#3 - What is the best way to mount a radar detector using the R-A-M system?
We have a selection of RAM radar detector mounts here.

#4 - How does the R-A-M Camera Platform work?
The Camera Base is a 2˝" round plate with a threaded stud in the middle. Simply thread this assembly into the tripod socket on the bottom of a standard still or video camera. Remember to safety-tether any electronic devices.

#5 - What is the difference between the StreetPilot and StreetPilot III holders?
The StreetPilot holder fastens directly to the body of the StreetPilot or the older StreetPilot ColorMap (discontinued) GPS. The Garmin cradle needs to be removed to use this base. The StreetPilot III holder makes use of the Garmin cradle. There are four holes in the back of the Garmin cradle, which are used to fasten a R-A-M base.
